TL;DR If I wanted your opinion I would stick it in your mouth, read or sod off.
Dust has little future IMHO, I cant get friends to play it because they wont be able to play competitive with me because the SP to max role is so ridiculously high, no one is going to spend 6-9 months to get a role specked for matches.
Any game that uses grind to hold back game play and competitiveness will always fail horribly with a FPS. The whole point is that as you play your role you get each new tool as part of a LEARNING curve, not some arbitrary system of numbers that suits CCP's interest and not the players. it should be managed that as you learn the game you gain the skills you need and it builds on top of itself, like any good game since monopoly.
So i can probably never play with my friends. Skill is a afterthought to grind. till you hit your max role and then really what was the point in those months before to discourage people from playing?
And even if it took my friends a month there is nothing too this game, no epicness like in the trailers at all, I cant show other gamers I play dust and be proud of it, because the game is not respected, for those reasons and more.
Dust and CCP said this would be a competitive FPS, and CCP has yet to live up to a single promise of any magnitude.
And just look at the track record, it took CCP 8 years to get this game where it is, 8 years across 2 different engines, looking across to the ps3 instead of forward to the next gen consoles and next gen gaming. Its been in development hell along with some of the worst games in history like duke nukem forever and colonial marines.
CCP has been at this for 8 years, they literally switched horses MID race! 10 year plan? we are 8 years in!!
Where will Dust be in another 2 years when they wasted 8 years and the BETA that was a year long!? This company reminds me of when I was in Helmand, we would talk and talk to leadership but would they ever listen? nope they had a "vison" a plan and if reality did not fit it then too bad for reality, the "vision" would go on. CCP does the same thing.
They just do not listen, they give lip service and do not actually engage with the community or playerbase any any real meaningful way. Hell the only time I would say they did was the day then ran PC testing with imps and another corp and that was just team true grit the other teams have no interest in that sort of on the ground testing and talking and interacting with players. They will never come down from Mt, DUST and actually join players to spectate matches or set up games where they can interact with players and talk and learn from those who have committed time to the game. Infact you have to go to Fanfest to even have any real input with CCP, just like our CPMs had to do and even then they just keep them in the dark and feed them BS like mushrooms.
Not to mention the Staff turnaround in Shanghai is insane, people have been through there like a revolving door the past 8 years as dev staff walk in and walk out, I have watched the CCP jobs board since I started playing early beta and you would be wise to pay attention to it as well in the future.
Pretty sure CCP Blam has been gone for months.
http://www.ccpgames.com/en/jobs
The project is in virtual free fall as leadership in Iceland and development in Shanghai are directionless and constantly miscommunicating with each other, the players and the marketing staff.
The right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing and are just passing prowords and talking points.
There is no AAA real experienced developers in Shanghai they are running a 70 man dev team that would take budgie and Bohemia interactive a team of 200-350 to get the job done. They have spent so much time working on things they cannot even implement or features and maps that are no longer compatible, pissing away time and energy and resources over and over.
Dont believe me? Buy a linkedin account and check out the CCP dev staff for Shanghai watch the comings and goings.
CCP proper has literately put dust on the other side of the world and they think they can manage it like its right next door. They don't give their staff the freedom to succeed or make the decisions in a critical amount of time and yet fail to take the hands on approach to get a functional game out the door. Its classic mismanagement.
And at the end of the day I have to laugh at people who think the SP passive/grind system works for this game. Almost everyone I know has created at least 100 accounts and plans to "give" wink wink them away in 2 years when they hit about 15 mill sp. And guess what that makes the Progression system worthless!
My alts allready have like 6 mil sp. guess where that's gonna be next summer? so the game will be become P2W (if your smart you can guess why) Anyone with some cash and a internet search. And will any of that improve Dust or make it more fun has any of the SP system actually make the game better long term? nope.
I'll still be around for the next 2 years of dust development, we are 8 years in and I want to see CCCP finally admit they messed up the DUST 514 project. And hopefully fix it after they are truly backed into a corner. |

Wrong Development started on the carbon engine back in 2006-2007ish. Just because soviet CCCP announces new 10 year plans because they have blown past their old failed ones, Is no reason to take the new 10 year plan any more seriously then the old one.
Get your facts straight. |

Quote: Executive Prodcer-DUST514 CCP is looking for an Executive Producer to take on DUST 514 continued development since its initial launch on the PlayStation 3 on May 14, 2013. In a similar way as CCP made EVE Online growth and prosper for over a decade the plan is the same for DUST 514 and in a similar way as with EVE, expand platforms in the future beyond the initial PS3 version. The EP is responsible for reconciling business and creative needs to create an inspirational product with successful business model. This position will lead overall development and will work closely with publishing and operations activities for DUST 514. The EP is responsible for the overall success of the title. The Executive Producer will need to build and lead strong teams of senior people from across the project in order to develop, communicate and execute the creative vision and business plans for DUST 514. As the key business leader for the project, the Executive Producer maintains a strategic focus on the overall goals of the project and a long term perspective in respect to creativity, quality, budget and timelines.

Nah i just meant that what I was saying finally had some facts out in the open that could back it up without me getting banned. |
